CCPA Casino Royale Fundraiser

March 8, 2010

We hosted “Casino Royale”, our “007” themed Gala Fundraiser for the College at the CCPA Performance Hall on February 6th.  To help raise badly-needed funds for scholarships and other training costs, we staged an evening of great food and fun, outstanding performances, and low-risk gaming, all presented in an elegant “red-carpet” atmosphere.

We held a draw on our blog for two tickets to the Casino Royale gala.  The winner was Steve Zussino.  Congrats, Steve!  We hope you enjoyed the event.

Below are some photos from the gala.

Announcing “Rabbit Hole” by Metro Theatre

October 28, 2009

Rabbit Hole

We are proud to promote the production of “Rabbit Hole” directed by Matthew Howe and supported by the Canadian Heritage Arts Foundation. This show will run November 13-15 (Fri. November 13, 7:30pm; Sat. November 14, 2pm & 7:30pm; Sun. November 15, 2pm) at the Metro Studio Theatre.

“Rabbit Hole” was the winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for drama, “Rabbit Hole,” by David Lindsay- Abaire, is a beautifully crafted work of great sensitivity which shifts perfectly from hilarity to grief. Becca and Howie Corbett have everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. “Rabbit Hole,” charts their bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places and for a path that will lead them back into the light of day. It’s a dramatic piece of writing laced with wit, insightfulness, compassion and searing honesty.

The play is guest-directed by Matthew Howe. Mr. Howe enjoyed ten seasons as Resident Director/Choreographer and Master Teacher at the Tony Award winning Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was named 2005-06 Twin Cities Director of the year.

Tickets: Adults $20, Students $15 (On sale at the McPherson Box Office; 250-386-6121)

This year, Company C is composed of twelve graduates of the Year II program who are working alongside professional directors to bring three powerful shows to the stage this season. Also, stay tuned for “Little Shop of Horrors,” which will be running from December 11-13th at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. This fall is the last chance for Victoria to see this talented ensemble as they prepare to launch their careers across Canada and beyond.

Canadian Heritage Arts Society

October 8, 2009

We am pleased to announce that we have recently been placed on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Heritage Arts Society, located in Victoria, BC. This is a natural extension of our love for the arts! If you missed our earlier post the Sidney Fine Arts Show is coming up, October 16-18th at the Mary Winspear Theatre.

Through this partnership we hope to help the Canadian College of Performing Arts and The Canadian Heritage Arts Society navigate the turbulence of government funding cut-backs, to allow the creative talents cradled within to soar. In the book, The Wisdom of Teams, John Katzenbach and Douglas Smith define a team as a “small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they hold themselves mutually accountable.” We are looking forward to being part of such a team, dedicated to the success of the Canadian Heritage Arts Society.

Upcoming Shows Include:
“As Bees In Honey Drown” playing October 9-11th at the Metro Studio Theatre
“Rabbit Hole” playing November 13-15th at the Metro Theatre

Tickets are $20 and $15 for students. Please contact the McPherson box office at 250.386.6121.
